Anna Kolobova, viola

The Winner of the 11th International "Maria Yudina" Competition in 2009, and the Honor Diploma recipient of the 10th International "Maria Yudina" Competition in 2008, and the Makris Foundation scholarship recipient, Anna Kolobova has amazed the audiences with her virtuosity, professionalism, and charm.
Born in Slonim, Belarus, she began playing the violin at the age of 6, graduating from the G.V. Sviridov School for the Arts in St. Petersburg and, in viola, from the Mussorgsky School of Music, after which she entered the St. Petersburg Conservatoire, studying under Prof. V.I. Stopichev. For her exceptional talent, she was awarded the N. Rubinstein Scholarship in 2004 and graduated from the Conservatory with honors in 2007.
Within her active and ever-growing career, Anna Kolobova has performed as a soloist, chamber musician or orchestra member with ensembles such as the Orchestra of the Hermitage, the St. Petersburg Camerata, the Federal Philharmonic of the Caucasian Mineral Waters in Kislovodsk, the Karelian Philharmonic in Petrozavodsk, the Eutin Festival Orchestra in Germany, the State Symphony Orchestra Nikolai Kornev, the Gwinnett Ballet Theatre Orchestra in Atlanta (USA), the Orchestra of the Daejeon Music Academy (South Korea), period-instrument orchestra New Trinity Baroque (USA and many others. She has participated in festivals such as at the International Festival "Onego-Classic" (Karelia), the Eutin Summer Festival in Germany, the International Week of the St. Petersburg Conservatory, etc. She has collaborated with conductors such as Zaurbek Gugkaev, Alim Shahmametyev, Stanislav Kochanovsky, Fabio Mastrangelo, Urs-Michael Theus, Predrag Gosta, Vassily Sinaisky, Alexander Polishchuk, Mats Liljefors, Mikhail Tatarnikov, Conrad van Alfen, Joost Smeets, Viktor Yampolski, and others.
She has taught at the G.V. Sviridov School for the Arts in St. Petersburg, the Music Academy in Daejeon, South Korea, and at various masterclasses. She plays a 1780 viola by Johann Christian Ficker (Germany).
